It was in April 1947 that the Flamingo was turning a healthy profit. Now that the hotel and grounds were completed and absolutely gorgeous, the Flamingo was packing them in. Unfortunately this wasn't enough to keep Bugsy Siegel in a good light with the backers. On June 20, 1947 Bugsy Siegel was shot to death in Virginia Hill's mansion in Beverly Hills, California.
